Hatteland Technology is looking for a Computer Engineer
Do you want to work hands-on with advanced embedded systems in demanding maritime and industrial environments? We are looking for a curious and driven Computer Engineer who wants to develop robust, high-performance solutions where reliability, precision, and technical depth truly matter.
Responsibilities and tasks
As a Computer Engineer, you will have a practical and operational role in developing and improving computing platforms and embedded systems for industrial, maritime, and defense-related products. You will be closely involved in the design, configuration, and verification of computing architectures, ensuring that solutions meet requirements for performance, robustness, cybersecurity, and longevity. The position involves close collaboration with electronics and mechanical engineers, production department, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities and focus areas include:

- support prototype bring-up, system integration, and functional verification
- troubleshoot and analyze complex issues across hardware, firmware, and system levels
- adapt operating systems for industrial platforms, including driver and boot setup
- develop automation scripts for system configuration, testing, and deployment
- bridge the gap between hardware and software teams through technical coordination and joint debugging
- maintain technical documentation, including specifications, architecture, and test reports
- collaborate cross-functionally with electronics, mechanical, and production teams
Your profile
You are eager to learn, detail-oriented, and motivated by solving technical challenges in a cross-disciplinary environment. You have a proactive mindset and a strong ambition to grow as an engineer in a collaborative and technically demanding setting. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with colleagues, suppliers, and other departments.
Furthermore, we expect that you have:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Cybernetics, or a related field. Relevant and substantial professional experience may compensate for formal education
- Basic experience with embedded systems, processor platforms, or firmware development
- An understanding of hardware–firmware–software integration
- Practical programming skills in one or more relevant languages such as Python, C, C++, or Bash, with a focus on troubleshooting, test automation, and collaboration with development teams
- Experience with or understanding of Windows and Linux systems, including configuration, scripting, and system administration
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Norwegian and English
For Hatteland Technology, talent, curiosity, and a drive to learn are what matter most. If you have core expertise in one of our sought-after areas and the ambition to develop your skills further, we invite you to apply for the role.
Whether you are a recent graduate or a seasoned professional, we encourage you to apply.
It is also a strong advantage if you have experience with:
- Cyber security in embedded or industrial systems
- Ruggedized or environmentally hardened computing solutions
- Version control and development tools such as Git or similar build environments
- Basic knowledge of electronics and electronic components, including the ability to read and understand electronic schematics
