Kongsberg Maritime seeks Naval Architect/Ship Designer

We are currently in an exciting growth phase and are seeking an experienced Naval Architect to join our award-winning Ship Design Solutions team.

As a designer with us, you become part of an environment with over 50 years of history and a portfolio of over 1,000 vessels. We are leading the green shift at sea, and you will play a central role in the evolution of our renowned UT and NVC designs, with a particular focus on decarbonization and innovative technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Ship Designer, you will hold an autonomous and customer-oriented role. Your main tasks will include:

• Design Leadership: Acting as the design responsible for dedicated customer projects and R&D programs, managing supporting teams as required.
• Technical Development: Taking primary responsibility for General Arrangements, vessel specifications, and performance documentation from initial customer meetings through to contract.
• Strategic Collaboration: Engaging in dialogue with ship owners, yards, and classification societies to understand market trends and regulatory requirements.
• Sales & Marketing Support: Contributing to bid/no-bid evaluations and supporting the sales force with technical expertise and tender documentation.
• Innovation: Being a driving force in the technological evolution of our portfolio, specifically within offshore, navy, and unmanned vessels.

Your Profile

We are looking for a candidate who possesses a holistic understanding of ship structures and the ability to think across a diverse design portfolio.

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering field.
• Ideally 5 years of relevant experience from a shipyard, classification society, or consultancy. 
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Interest in 3D tools (Revit), visualization (Rhino), or CFD (Star-CCM+) is a plus.
• Fluent in English, as this is our primary working language for projects and international collaboration.
